I am priviledged to serve the citizens of Milton as Police Chief, and honored to work with the men and women who serve with me. Our citizens are our partners in providing public safety here in Milton. We constantly seek opportunities to enhance the established relationships we have with citizens in our on-going efforts to keep Milton a safe community. Our goal is to seek innovative community policing strategies rooted in team policing concepts that are geared specifically toward the prevention, intervention and suppression of crime and disorder. In addition to day to day supervision of department staff, Lieutenant Conger has a variety of other responsibilities with the agency. He serves as the public information officer, and is also tasked with coordinating proactive law enforcement programming and community outreach efforts. John also oversees the agency’s schedule, fleet maintenance, Volunteers In Policing program, training, our involvement in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), as well as sitting on several law enforcement related committees at the local and county level, and serving as the municipal court officer. John also oversees the agency's Crime Prevention Fund and related fundraising activities.

Lieutenant Smith is also responsible for the supervision of the department’s staff. Lieutenant Smith assists the Chief of Police in planning and implementing the operational policy for the city in order to better carry out the policies and goals of the organization. Lieutenant Smith monitors, assesses and plans the evidence processing policy development related to evidence processing and property control. He is directly responsible for property and evidence control processes.

Detective Justice is responsible for the daily investigative duties for the department. He is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Officer Schumacher is also assigned to the day shift team of officers. Officer Schumacher is a state certified salvage vehicle inspector. Officer Schumacher conducts salvage inspections by appointment only. Please contact him to schedule an appointment.

Officer Chesmore is assigned to the evening team of officers and is the department’s firearms instructor. He also serves as a Field Training Officer.

Megan is assigned to our third shift patrol team. In addition to patrol responsibilities, Megan is one of our Evidence Technicians and the Neighborhood Watch coordinator.
